Republic scored in the first minute and never looked back, beating Parkview 5-0 at JFK Stadium in Springfield Tuesday in their regular-season finale.
Miles Thomas converted a penalty kick less than two minutes into the match to put Republic ahead 1-0. The Tigers added three more goals before halftime.
Will Pinnell doubled the lead midway through the first half, taking a feed from Mason Makoski at the top of the box and finding the net. Caleb Miclea made it 3-0 five minutes later when his shot deflected off the Parkview goalkeeper after Diego Zuniga split the defense with a through ball.
Thomas and Zuniga connected for Republic’s fourth goal with 2:30 remaining in the half. Thomas played a through ball ahead to Zuniga, who finished the opportunity.
Zuniga added his second goal less than a minute into the second half, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to push the lead to 5-0.
The shutout was Republic’s third in four matches. Coach Jesus Zuniga used the big lead to give playing time to younger players in the second half.
