The Lady Tigers golf team posted a huge improvement in its team score during the Pearson Invitational. Coming off a third-place finish at the Willard Invitational, Republic shot even better from top to bottom at Horton Smith last week. The team took 28 strokes off its team score, placing sixth with a team score of 376.

The Tigers’ primary pitching duo of Piper Dishman and Kara Goeke has an impressive 3:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Combined, they have struck out 153 batters and walked 54. Dishman has 94 strikeouts and 32 walks, while Goeke has struck out 57 and walked 19.

Ashland Schaumann has reached base at a team-best .493 clip, despite batting just .205 for the season. Schaumann’s exceptional plate discipline resulted in 15 walks, and she has also been hit by pitches 10 times, allowing her to reach base safely more than anyone else on the team.

Addison Walker has swiped 11 bases this season, leading the Lady Tigers in stolen bases with a 91.7% success rate. Walker’s speed on the basepaths translated directly into runs, as she also leads the team with 32 runs scored.

Adison Gibbs has been a key factor in the Lady Tigers’ volleyball defense up front. Gibbs has thrown up 58 blocks this season — twice as many as anyone else on the team. She also leads the team with 3.2 kills per set.
