The Lady Tigers wrestling team won its first-ever dual at home Thursday, topping Bolivar 36-24.
Republic won three of the contested matches and lost two. Gabby Shanks, Neveah Ghan, and Aara Shade all picked up wins over their opponents. Millie Waterman and Anna McBroom also scored in uncontested weight classes.
Shade clinched the team victory in the last match of the night, pinning Bolivar’s Maddie Duncan in the third round. A pin by Bolivar in the final match would have tied the score 30-30. For Shade, it was also a personal milestone. It was her first career win for the first-year varsity wrestler.
Every wrestler on the young Republic squad now has a win this season.
