A rough shooting night doomed Republic against Springfield Glendale’s solid zone defense, as the Lady Falcons pulled away from the Lady Tigers for a 52-43 win in the quarterfinals of the Pink & White Lady Classic.
Glendale exploited a size advantage inside to clean up on second-chance points. The Lady Falcons used a big second quarter — outscoring Republic 18-9 during the period — to build a 30-17 halftime lead.
Republic fought back to make a game of it, winning the third quarter 16-12, but couldn’t climb out of the early hole.
Molly Blades was a bright spot for the Republic offense, scoring 18 points to lead the team. Misora Nambara also finished in double figures with 10.
Republic (6-3) falls into the consolation bracket to face Clever. That game will be Friday at 6:30 at Weiser Gymnasium. Glendale advances to the semifinals to meet Greenwood, Arkansas.
