Killer Performance: Republic Volleyball Finishes Flawless Tournament as Finley Joins 1,000-Kill Club

Republic volleyball went 4-0 at the Springfield Classic Saturday, and Rilynn Finley picked up her 1,000th career kill during a perfect day for the Lady Tigers.

“Rilynn’s reaching this milestone is a testament to her hard work,” coach Allison Davis said. “She has dedicated herself to this sport through school ball, club ball, and the weight room to get where she is today. Most importantly, she’s a good teammate that recognizes her teammates helped her reach this accomplishment.”

Republic didn’t drop a set all day, winning all four of its matches 2-0. The Lady Tigers opened with a win over Bentonville, Ark., 25-20, 25-12. They followed it up with a 25-13, 25-20 win over Bryant. In their third match, the Lady Tigers beat Carthage 25-23, 25-10. They finished by beating Fort Smith Southside, winning both sets 25-20.

Davis said the team played “amazing” volleyball all day. “The girls put it all together … offense and defense,” she said.

Republic finished second in the tournament to Kickapoo based on points, although the two didn’t play.

Saturday’s perfect performance puts Republic’s record at 14-4 overall. The Lady Tigers travel to Willard Tuesday for a Central Ozark Conference match.
