Myles Lozano got the Republic baseball season off to a strong start at Springfield Hillcrest last week. Lozano got the start on the mound for Republic in its season opener and he made his mark with two perfect innings.
Lozano retired all six batters that he faced in two innings of work. He struck out three of them. The other three failed to hit the ball out of the infield. Lozano threw 23 pitches and 19 of them were strikes.
Coach Curt Plotner lifted Lozano after two innings when Republic jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but while he was in there, Lozano turned in our Performance of the Week.
