Askew, Bekemeier Win All-State Recognition

Two Republic seniors — Ahlante Askew and Kaemyn Bekemeier — are members of the all-state basketball team named by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. The selection is Askew’s first appearance on the all-state team. For Bekemeier, it’s a career sweep, as she was named to the all-state squad for the fourth time.

Askew was a key factor in Republic’s 24-4 season. He averaged 15.5 points per game and he also dished out 148 assists while committing only 40 turnovers. He finished his career as the all-time assist and steals leader at Republic.

Bekemeier averaged a double-double, finishing the season at 22.6 points per game and just over ten rebounds per game. She also made 68 three-pointers, tying Alexis Ladwig’s single-season school record in that category. She finished her career with a host of other single-game, single-season, and career records.
