Kaemyn Bekemeier might wish she could play Carthage every night. In four career starts against Carthage, going all the way back to her freshman season, she is averaging 28.3 points per game against Republic’s conference rival to the west. Last year, Bekemeier scored 38, setting what was then a school record.
Last week, she was at it again. Bekemeier piled up 34 points against Carthage in a home game Thursday. That included 14 points in the third quarter.
To add to the performance, she surpassed another major school record at Republic. Bekemeier broke the career rebounding mark that had previously been held by Amanda Newton Plotner. She now holds the single-game, single-season, and career records in scoring and rebounding, and her record-setting game against Carthage was our performance of the week.
