Ozark’s Jordyn Foley kept Republic hitters off-balance for seven innings, striking out 13 batters in a 3-0 Ozark win at Republic Tuesday. Republic managed only three base hits against Foley — two by Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs and one by Jenna Belcher.
Ozark hitters didn’t fare much better against Piper Dishman, but they made the most of their opportunities. A bloop single and a well-placed ground ball turned into an Ozark run in the fourth inning. In the sixth, Ozark scored twice more without hitting the ball hard. The two runs scored when Kelsie Batey grounded a ball through the drawn-in infield.
Ozark had already clinched the Central Ozark Conference championship before Tuesday. The win was their 20th of the season. Republic falls to 16-12 to end the regular season. Both Ozark and Republic will compete in the Class 5 District 5 tournament next week in Springfield.
