Miller Rountree’s new school record in one of the hurdle races highlighted a big night for the Republic track teams at the Nixa Invitational. The Tigers finished second and the Lady Tigers finished third in a 12-school field Tuesday. Republic’s boys team finished with 156 points, just four points behind host Nixa – and more than 60 points ahead of third-place Kickapoo. The girls team had 96.5 points, behind Nixa (141.5) and Ozark (103.5).
Miller Rountree not only won both boys hurdle races, he broke the school record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.59. That broke the previous mark of 40.67 set by Kyle Evans in 1987.
Ethan Haynes won both the 1600m and 3200m runs. Chase Buford won the 100m dash. Joshua Silver finished first in the triple jump. Cooper Douglas won the javelin. Drew Buchanan finished second to Rountree in the 300m hurdles. Landen Finley was second in the 400m dash. Kendell Curbow finished third in the pole vault. Devon McMillin was third in the 800m run.
In the girls 3200m run, freshman Gracie Troester and senior Miha Nambara finished 1-2. Alaina Norman finished first in the javelin. Kristin Probst was second in the 400m dash. Troester also medaled in the 1600m run, finishing third.
The Lady Tigers’ 4x800m relay team finished first and the 4x400m relay team finished second.
The Tigers’ 4×400 team finished first. The 4×100 and 4×400 teams finished second.
The Republic boys left Nixa with the first-place trophy, having been credited as the overall team winner. But a corrected results listing posted later that night showed Nixa with a four-point lead after all scores were tabulated.
