XC Excels at East Newton as Nambara Breaks 19:00 Mark

Republic’s cross country teams had their best all-around day of the year, with the girls team finishing first and the boys finishing fourth at the East Newton Invitational. Miha Nambara broke the school record she set last week, finishing in less than 19 minutes for the first time. She placed second, running the race in 18:57.78.

Ethan Haynes finished fourth in the boys race, with a time of 16:23.81. (Corrected earlier version with incorrect place.)

The Lady Tigers had four finishers in the top 10 and eight in the top 25.
Misora Nambara placed seventh, Gracie Troester eighth, and Kristin Probst ninth. Brooklyn Douglas was 12th, and Trinity Lawler 15th, Kennidy Verheyen 20th, and Molly Mason 23rd.

In the boys race, Republic had two other top-25 finishers besides Haynes. Brady Purcell was 24th and Cooper Davis 25th. Four others – Joseph Mullins, Derrick Buchanan, Hayden Mitchell, and Jackson Haralson – were in the top 35.

In the JV race, Kaden Howard was second, Logan Gray was fourth, and Dak Henning was fifth. (There was no JV girls race.)
