Two Tournaments, Two Titles for Lady Tigers

Republic’s varsity tennis team played 12 matches at the Nixa Invitational, and it won all 12 of them. Out of 94 games, Republic won 73. Out of four first-place medals, Republic won all four.

In the top singles bracket, Elsie Crawford lost only one game all day, winning her quarterfinal match 8-0, her semifinal 8-1, and her championship match 8-0.

Jasmine Howard won the #2 singles title, winning 8-0 in the quarterfinals, 8-1 in the semifinals, and 8-2 in the finals.

Abby McCord and Morgan Lewis won the #1 doubles championship in the closest match of the day. They needed a tie-breaker to beat Nixa 9-8 (7-4) in the title match, after winning 8-2 in the quarterfinals and 8-2 in the semifinals.

In the #2 doubles bracket, Mia Stan and Izzy Wells won their three matches, 8-0 in the quarterfinals, 8-3 in the semifinals, and 8-2 in the finals.

While the varsity squad was cleaning up in Nixa, the JV team captured another tournament championship at the Lebanon JV Tournament. The Lady Tigers defeated Waynesville 7-2, Camdenton 6-3, Rolla 6-3, and Lebanon 9-0 to win the title.
