Miha Nambara chased down a personal best at the Riann Lubinski Invitational in Nixa Tuesday – and she chased down the school record while she was at it. Nambara finished today’s cross country race in 19:12.7, beating the old school mark by about five seconds. The old record was 19:17.32, set by Megan Hergesheimer in Nixa in 2012.
Nambara finished in second place among the large-school girls, less than a second behind Lilah Genel of Parkview. She led the Lady Tigers to a second-place team finish.
Three other Republic girls finished in the top ten: freshman Gracie Troester was seventh, Misora Nambara was eighth, and Kristin Probst was ninth. Troester, Probst, Trinity Lawler, and Molly Mason also finished with season-best times.
Ethan Haynes led the boys team with a fifth-place finish, running the course in 16:51.20. Brady Purcell was also in the top 20, with a time of 17:53.10. That was good enough for 16th. Four Republic boys finished with season-best times: Joseph Mullins, Jackson Haralson, Hayden Mitchell, and Dak Henning.
The Republic JV squad had a successful day, as well. Kennidy Verheyen won the JV girls race with a time of 16:59.30. That was her best time of the year so far.
Every JV boy had a season-best time, led by Kaden Howard, who was fifth, finishing in 14:14.50.
