Who's Hot?

Presented by Central Gas Propane

The baseball Tigers are not only warming up with the weather, they’re hotter than they’ve been in more than a decade. The Tigers have won eight games in a row, and they’re off to a 15-6 start. The eight-game win streak is the longest for Republic since 2008, when Republic reeled off ten games in a row.

Republic hasn’t lost since April 10 to Columbia Hickman, and that was the only loss all season to an unranked team. Four of Republic’s six losses are to teams currently ranked in the top 10, and a fifth is to Kickapoo, which was ranked at the time. Since the loss to Kickapoo on April 9, Republic has played three state-ranked teams and is 3-0 in those games.

The Tigers are also scoring at a torrid pace, even in the tough Central Ozark Conference. They are averaging 8.4 runs per game so far this season. That’s just off the school-record pace of the 1991 team, which scored nine runs per game.

And to top it off, Republic can clinch the Central Ozark Conference championship Tuesday night at home against Nixa. We’ll carry that game live.
