Both the boys and girls track teams won the Republic Classic to open their season Monday. The Lady Tigers earned 209 points, easily outdistancing second-place Sarcoxie, which had 100. The Tigers scored 170 team points, ahead of Springfield Catholic, with 132.
The girls team dominated in the relays, winning all four races: the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800. A.J. Fenske led the way in the field events, capturing the title in both the discus and the shot put. She topped 100 feet in the discus at 103′ 6″.
The boys team won four events, including two by Chase Buford. Buford won the long jump and the 100 meter dash. He and Chase Liedtke finished 1-2 in the 100-meter dash.
