As team district play begins today at Republic, it would be hard to find a tennis team that’s hotter than the Lady Tigers. Republic won both the singles (Elsie Crawford) and doubles (Sedalia Shumaker and Morgan Lewis) brackets at individual sectionals. They also finished second in doubles (Wrigley Cook and Abby McCord), ensuring that five players would compete in the state tournament. Jasmine Howard, the sixth Lady Tiger, finished third in singles as a sophomore.
Republic turns its attention to team play today with the district semifinals.
