Both Miha and Misora Nambara advanced to the state cross country meet with strong performances at the district meet in Nixa Saturday. The top 15 runners advanced to state.
Miha finished fifth with a time of 19:40.71. She finished just one-hundredth of a second behind Nixa’s Emily Harris in fourth.
Misora finished 11th with a time of 20:29.01.
“The girls are both very competitive and it is amazing how they root for each other, but they also both want to beat the other one,” said coach Christie Bishop. “Miha has a little advantage on Misora because of her age and experience, but Misora is running faster times than Miha did her freshman year. So they each have their own amazing accomplishments. I am proud to be one of the coaches of such outstanding athletes.”
The Class 5 state race is in Columbia next Saturday morning. Restrictions in Columbia will limit spectators at the event to two per runner.
