Republic’s People Helping People will give away enough food to feed about 500 families during a major distribution planned for May 13. The distribution is being conducted in partnership with five Republic churches: CrossPoint, Destiny, Life360, Live, and Meadowview Baptist. Ozarks Food Harvest is donating the food.
“This is such a difficult and unprecedented time for all of us,” said People Helping People President Gala Wilson. “I am thankful to Ozarks Food Harvest for giving us the opportunity to help lighten the load for those who are facing the challenge of keeping their families fed.”
Volunteers will be giving away food boxes with bakery, produce, and hygiene items. People Helping People often buys food from Ozarks Food Harvest at a low price, but because of the COVID-19 crisis, OFH waived all fees. The food for this giveaway will come directly from OFH, not the PHP pantry.
The distribution is scheduled for May 13 from 4-6 pm. Cars will enter the line from the parking lot east of McCulloch Elementary (near the corner of Hampton and Anderson) and will follow the road that runs behind the school, entering the People Helping People parking lot from the back.
