4The number of Republic athletes competing at state competition this weekend. Two wrestlers – Jonathan O’Connell and Wyatt George – and two swimmers – Karissa Metzger and Mady McCrea – are chasing after state medals.
2The number of events Karissa Metzger and Mady McCrea will each compete in at St. Peters. Metzger and McCrea are both entered in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. McCrea is seeded higher in the medley, at 14th. Metzger is the higher seed in the breaststroke, at eighth.
42The number of wins by Wyatt George this season. George is one of six wrestlers in his bracket with four or fewer losses, and he has more wins this season than anyone in the bracket heading into the state tournament.16The number of swimmers who advance to the finals in each event at the state swim meet. Of 32 swimmers, the top half of finishers in preliminaries will advance with a chance to earn a medal.
