The Lady Tigers’ defense throttled Columbia Hickman in a 55-28 win on the road Saturday. Republic allowed just three points in the first quarter and just 12 points in the second half. Hickman managed just a single field goal in each of the first three quarters, and made just six field goals in the game.
The Lady Tigers jumped to an 11-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, allowing only a single three-point field goal during the first eight minutes. At halftime, the score was 24-16, but most of Hickman’s 13 points in the quarter came on free throws. Republic pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Kewpies 18-6 to take a 42-22 lead.
Jazzy Kirby led Republic with 15 points, including nine in the first half. Clara Fronabarger also finished in double figures with ten points.
Republic improves to 8-5. They’re off until Thursday, when they’ll play the first of three games in three days at the Nixa Invitational.
The JV Lady Tigers improved to 12-0 this year with a 47-20 win.
