Soccer Slide Continues in Home Loss

Republic soccer’s midseason slide continued Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Webb City. The Tigers gave up a single goal in the first half, another with about 12 minutes remaining in the game, and a third in the final seconds.

Republic had several chances to score but couldn’t finish those opportunities, in what has been a recurring theme this season. Twice in the final 15 minutes, the ball caromed loose inside the goal box, but Republic failed to put it into the net.

Jackson Dill scored Webb City’s first goal eight minutes into the game. Landon Black made it 2-0 with 12:24 remaining. Iggy Mathenge scored the final goal as time wound down.

Republic falls to 5-9, and Webb City is 10-6.
