27 up, 27 down. The Tiger tennis team pitched a perfect game at the Mt. Vernon tennis tournament Wednesday, winning all 27 of its matches en route to a dominating championship. The Tigers took first place in all six singles flights and all three doubles flights against Mt. Vernon, Monett, and Clever.
It’s the first time in history that Republic had swept through a tournament without dropping a single match. And the Tigers did it despite the fact that five of its six players had no varsity experience before Wednesday.
The Tigers open dual play at home Thursday afternoon against Springfield Central.
