Lady Tigers Blast Eagles for Win #15

Joplin scored the first basket of the game, and that was as high as the Lady Eagles soared all evening. Republic answered with 42 consecutive points, and Joplin didn’t score until after the middle of the third quarter as Republic cruised to a 57-9 victory.

Jazzy Kirby scored 14 points to lead the Lady Tigers. No one else was in double figures, but nine different players scored for Republic.

“I thought we were getting good looks. We didn’t shoot it real well from the perimeter, but we were moving better, getting crisper passes, and moving the ball,” said coach Kris Flood. “I thought we did a good job defensively. We executed and ended up taking care of what we needed to do.”

After allowing a bucket in the opening minute, Republic held Joplin without another field goal for about 20 minutes. The Lady Tigers finished the first quarter on a 15-0 run, then outscored Joplin 18-0 in the second quarter before opening the third quarter with nine straight points. The lead was 50-4 when the fourth quarter began.

Among the nine Lady Tigers who scored, Whitney Weaver tallied her first career varsity point.

Republic improves to 15-7 overall. They’re 6-0 in the Central Ozark Conference.

Scoring
Jazzy Kirby 14, Jade Kirby 8, Halli Bartelsmeyer 8, Shealyn Barrett 8, Anna Bell 7, Clara Fronabarger 5, Delaney Smith 3, Carle Ward 3, Whitney Weaver 1
