Soccer Tigers Can’t Hold Early Lead in Home Loss (Photos)

Republic scored the first goal, but Nixa scored the rest of them in a 4-1 Eagles win at Republic Tuesday night. The Tigers broke on top in the seventh minute when Drew Flippin scored to make it 1-0. But it took Nixa just two minutes after that to tie the game on a goal from Andreas Luiga. (See photo gallery below.)

Republic controlled possession for most of the remaining 30 minutes of the half, but the Eagles took the lead just a minute before halftime, when Hunter Daniels sneaked the ball just inside the left post, past the outstretched arms of Tiger goalkeeper Drake Lightfoot.

Daniels scored another goal in the second half, in the 63rd minute. Nixa’s Tanner Palmer completed the scoring with Nixa’s fourth goal two minutes later.

Republic falls to 1-3. The Tigers travel to West Plains Thursday, starting with a half-game for the JV at 5:30.
