Seniors Dylan Mackey and Hunter Creek ended their careers just one step short of a state tournament appearance. Mackey and Creek lost their sectional doubles match at Joplin Tuesday to Matthew Zengel and Caden Hillman of Kickapoo, 6-0 6-3.

Zengel and Hillman breezed through the first set, but Mackey and Creek found their footing and began to fight back in the second. They led 2-1 at one point, before the Kickapoo pair pulled away to clinch the win.
“All you can do at the end of the day is just ask your players to compete and go from there,” says coach Eric Hanson. If they run into a better team, they run into a better team, and I think today Kickapoo was the better team.”
