[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]The Lady Tigers mounted a furious rally to cut a 20-point deficit down to single digits, but they couldn’t complete their comeback in a 72-64 loss to Camdenton Wednesday night.
Republic turn the ball over 23 times. Camdenton dominated the first half with its defensive pressure. The Lakers outscored Republic 47-30 in the first half, then promptly drilled a three pointer on their first possession after the break to take a 20 point lead in hover there for about four minutes, before Republic stepped up its own defense, forced several Camdenton turnovers, and clawed its way back into the game.
The Lady Tigers trailed 63-48 as the fourth quarter began, and they continued to make headway into the final period. About a minute after Brylee Manes fouled out with three and a half minutes remaining, Megan Branstetter hit a three-pointer, cutting the lead to nine points, at 68-59. But Republic managed just five more points the rest of the game, and Camdenton escaped with the win.
Branstetter scored 24 points to lead Republic. Halli Bartelsmeyer scored 14, and Avy Powell-Qualo also scored in double figures with 12.
The Lady Tigers fall to 7-9.
