Our weekly report is brought to you by State Farm Agent Sarah Rader. Talk to her about how you can save money by combining your home and auto insurance.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]”Elegant” may not be a word that comes to mind when you think of firefighters or robots. But when the judges looked Republic’s fire-fighting robot, “elegant” is just the word they chose.

Republic High School’s robotics team finished among the top entrants at the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) competition at North Arkansas Community College in Harrison, Ark. The teams were required to design a robot to help with fire safety objectives–saving a “life”, removing flammable/toxic substances, and putting out flames.

Teams also created a notebook to record the engineering process and wrote a research paper on their topic. They used that information in a marketing presentation that was also a part of the competition.

Twenty-two teams competed, and Republic finished 7th overall, earning a place in the regional competition in December.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
