Republic Volleyball Falls in Close Match

Republic played a rare best-three-of-five match at Pittsburg, Kan., Monday, losing three sets to one. The Lady Tigers lost the first two sets to the Dragons of Pittsburg 23-25. They came back to win set three 25-18, but lost the fourth set 17-25.

Kansas volleyball teams usually play on nights when 3-4 teams are in one location, and those matches are best-two-of-three sets. But when they play a “dual” with only two teams — like Monday’s match against Republic — the matches are best-three-of-five.

Rylee Moseman had 11 kills to lead the Lady Tigers’ attack. Emma Pearce added four service aces. Bella Drennan had 24 assists.

Eryn Russell racked up 37 digs for the defense.

The Lady Tigers are now 3-4. (They went 2-2 over the weekend at the Branson Tournament, defeating Seneca and El Dorado Springs, but losing to Blue Springs South and Springfield Central.)

They play Tuesday night at Springfield Glendale.
