Republic Defense Breaks Mustangs Early

Republic put in another smothering defensive performance against an overmatched opponent Friday night, whipping McDonald County 62-20. It was the second-lowest point total allowed by Republic this year. (They beat Marshfield 53-17 in the second round of the Blue & Gold Tournament.

Treydon Rackley led Republic with 15 points. Caleb Singley had 14 and Ty Stevens had 10.

Republic came out of the gate with a pressing defense and jumped to a 12-0 lead before coach Trevyor Fisher called off the press.

The win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Tigers, who hadn’t won since defeating Carl Junction before the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions. The Tigers improve to 12-5.
