The Lady Tigers controlled the 2nd half as they ran away from Glendale in the losers’ bracket semifinals of the Pink & White Lady Classic Thursday, 70-42. The Lady Tigers outscored Glendale 41-17 in the final 16 minutes to advance to the tournament’s 5th-place game Friday afternoon.
In the 1st half, Glendale stayed close thanks to good shooting and a bunch of Republic turnovers. Republic still led 29-25 at the halfway mark.
In the opening minutes of the 3rd quarter, Fergen helped bust the game open for the Lady Tigers. She drained two three-pointers with a layup sandwiched in-between, extending Republic’s lead to double digits. They never looked back.
Fergen finished with 22 points. Brylee Manes added 16 and Megan Branstetter had 11. Madi Beckham scored seven, and Allyson Barrett and Natalie Bennett scored six apiece. Halli Bartelsmeyer and Madi Appleberry each scored one.
