Stander Flies to Pitt State

Republic cheer coach Matthew Matthey says Lindsay Stander won’t stop until she achieves her goals. She’s already achieved one of them, but she’s not showing any signs of stopping. Stander has signed to be a part of the cheer squad at Pittsburg State University next year.

Stander’s position as a flyer for the Republic squad has put her in the spotlight. With her advancement to the college ranks, she will be flying even higher.

“I’m really excited about the strength and the new stunts that I’ll be trying,” Stander says of her new squad at Pitt State, where there is one man to every woman on the squad. “I’ll be doing a lot more flips onto guys’ hands—instead of down the court.”

Stander says she’s eager to experience football Saturdays at Pitt State, as well.

“I’m really excited for the game day. Pitt State is known for wondrous football game days and how crazy it’s going to be,” she says. “I’m really excited to have a huge crowd to cheer in front of.”

Massey says her work ethic will serve Stander well in college.

“She’s an extremely hard worker,” Massey says. “She’s going to do great in college, and I can’t wait to see what all she accomplishes.”
