The Republic Lady Tigers overcame a slow start with a hot-shooting second half as they blew out Bolivar on the road Wednesday night 74-44. Republic made 10 three-pointers – five of them by Alexis Ladwig – just one game after they set a school record with 13 against Neosho.
Republic’s lackluster defensive effort in the first half allowed the Liberators to stay close with several easy transition buckets. It was 17-10 after the first quarter and 31-21 at halftime. When Bolivar outscored Republic 14-10 to open the third quarter, they briefly cut the lead to six points. But a three-pointer by Ladwig reversed the moment, stretched the lead to nine, and the Lady Tigers were off to the races. Republic went on a 15-4 run to put the game away. They outscored bolivar 26-7 in the fourth quarter.
Republic out-rebounded Bolivar 38-27. The Lady Tigers shot 42% from the floor and 53% from beyond the three-point arc.
Ladwig led Republic with 17 points. Brylee Argo scored 16, and Jordan Kabetske added 14. Brooke Stanfield and Allyson Barrett scored six points apiece. Taylor Fergen and Jade Sawyer each scored four. Madi Appleberry scored three. Logan Flood and Carly Bayans each added two.
Republic improves to 18-1. They return home Thursday for a huge Central Ozark Conference showdown with Nixa.
