Sharpshooter Alexis Ladwig drilled five three-pointers and the Lady Tigers cruised to victory at home, blowing out Blue Springs Friday, 63-32.
Ladwig finish the game with a team high 19 points. Brylee Argo had 13. The game was never close, as Republic forced Blue Springs to turn the ball over 17 times and scored 28 points off those turnovers.
The game marked the return of guard Logan Flood, who tore a knee ligament in the off-season. She joined fellow senior Jade Sawyer, who suffered a similar injury over the summer, in the Lady Tiger backcourt for the first time this season.
“It was really nerve-wracking. I didn’t know how I was going to react to everything,” Flood says. “I felt like towards the end I got a little bit more comfortable, but I’m still not there at all and my game has really weakened.”
Flood says her return “was awesome. It was the best feeling in the world.
“I really wanted to see how stable (my knee) was, and I realized that it’s good. It’s a normal knee and I need to stop acting like I had surgery and just start playing like my normal self again. It gives me more confidence that I need to bear down and just do it.”
In addition to Ladwig’s 19 and Argo’s 13, the Lady Tigers got eight points from Taylor Fergen, six from Carly Bayans, five each from Jordan Kabetske, Jade Sawyer, and Brooke Stanfield, and two from Madison Beckham.
Republic improves to 10-1. They play again Saturday afternoon against Lee’s Summit West.
