Philip Canfield and Destinee Tyk both medaled for the Republic cross country squad at Nixa Tuesday, with several other runners showing big improvements in their personal records.
Canfield took 5th overall, running the race in 16:29. Tyk finished 20th among the girls.
Zach Branstetter was Republic’s second finisher in the boys’ race. Jake and Chad Parker both set personal records and finished 3-4 among the Republic runners.
Among the Republic girls, Madi Appleberry turned in the second-best time, followed by Sara Wilken, Payton Coskey, Emily Neal, and Tabitha Carruthers. Neal shaved nearly three minutes off her personal best time.
Tyler Mackey ran the best Republic time in the JV race, followed by Ryan Mackey, Phil Andrew, and Kyle Curran.
