Kickapoo Overpowers Lady Tigers Volleyball Team

For the first few minutes of the Lady Tigers’ home opener against Kickapoo Tuesday night, it looked like they’d be able to hang with the 5-1 Chiefs. But a Kickapoo run midway through the first set turned the momentum and propelled the Chiefs to a two-set victory, 25-17 25-12.

The trio of Lauryn Allison, Landyn Koz, and Jane Wickham each had five kills to lead Kickapoo, who improved to 6-1 this season.

For Republic, Brooke Stanfield had four kills and two blocks. Mikayla Botkin led the Lady Tigers with six assists. Eryn Russell contributed eight digs, and Lauren O’Hara had two blocks, as well.

The loss dropped Republic’s record to 1-4 this season. They’ll be back at home Thursday against Marshfield.

Kickapoo also won the freshman and JV matches in two sets apiece.
