The Republic tennis team took first place in two of three doubles flights at the Mt. Vernon Tournament Wednesday before weather forced a postponement of the rest of the event.
Michael Nacy and Jacob Overturf won the #1 doubles flight by winning all three of their matches. Bradley Hendrix and Gabe Bandfield also went undefeated, winning the #2 flight. The freshman team of Dylan Mackey and Austin Massey went 2-1, taking second place in the #3 doubles flight.
The singles matches will be played on Friday, April 17th. When the tournament resumes, Republic will be in first place, with Mount Vernon in second, Clever third, and Monett fourth.
The varsity tennis team will be back in action next Monday at Bolivar. The JV team will be home Thursday evening against Clever, weather permitting.
