Another showdown with a state-ranked team. Another victory. The Lady Tigers (#5, Class 5) jumped ahead early and never looked back in a 50-38 win over West Plains (#4, Class 4). The victory earned Republic a championship in the Carthage Tournament. Republic’s Jordan Kabetske was named tournament Most Valuable Player after her team-high 13 points in the championship game.
The Lady Tigers left no doubt that they were the class of the field in Carthage, racing to a 10-2 lead, and stretching it to 18-6 at the end of the first quarter. It was 30-18 at halftime, and 39-25 at the end of three.
It was the third straight stellar defensive effort for Republic, who allowed an average of just 29 points in their three tournament games. In the first quarter, they outscored their opponents by a combined score of 43-10.
In addition to Kabetske’s 13 points, Republic got eight each from Michayla Shanks and Tori Taylor. Brooke Stanfield scored six. Jade Sawyer and Logan Flood each scored five. Micah Mansker added three, and Brylee Argo scored two.
The Grace Place Player of the Game is Jordan Kabetske! Her 13 points led Republic, and she was named tournament Most Valuable Player for her three-game performance at Carthage.
