Republic put together its most complete game of the season so far as the Lady Tigers romped to a 72-45 victory over Waynesville at home Monday night. The Lady Tigers used a 20-6 run midway through the second quarter to pull away. Coach Kris Flood briefly went to a zone defense during that stretch, and Republic responded by forcing three consecutive Waynesville turnovers and converting all of them into points.

“Early on defensively, seemed like we were creating some 50/50 balls, especially in the second quarter with Brooke. She got two or three straight turnovers in there. That always helps,” says coach Kris Flood.

Michayla Shanks got the ball rolling with two straight three pointers to start the game. She finished with a season-high 15 points. Brooke Stanfield led Republic in scoring with 16. Jade Sawyer had 12 points, including a couple of threes in the fourth quarter. Jordan Kabetske scored 10, nine of them in the first half.

Logan Flood added nine points, all of them in the second half. Tori Taylor scored six, and Micah Mansker and Brylee Argo scored two points apiece.

“I thought we made some pretty good decisions with the ball, especially in transition,” says Flood. “We got some easy baskets and were able to put some runs together to really space this thing out.”

Waynesville was led by 6’3″ junior Kallie Bildner, who scored 16 points.

Republic improves to 4-0. Waynesville falls to 3-3. Republic travels to Carl Junction Thursday. Republic Tiger Sports will broadcast the game at republictigersports.com/live.
