The Republic Lady Tigers golf team captured its best finish of the season in Carthage Monday, taking third place at the Taco Town Carthage Invitational. Republic finished with a team score of 409, behind tournament champion Carthage and runner-up Carl Junction.
Katie Hamilton and Caroline Blanford were the co-leaders for Republic. They each scored 97 to finish tied for 13th overall. Emma Blanford shot a 107, Madison Beckham ended at 108, and Vanessa Nimmo turned in a 114.
The tournament was a key tune-up for the Lady Tigers, who will have their district tournament in Carthage on the same course next week.
“The golf course at Carthage is really difficult, and I am pleased with the way the girls played today,” says coach Curt Plotner.
Mt. Vernon’s Ashley Childers was the individual champion.
