Lady Tigers Take 4th at Ozark

The Republic Lady Tigers slugged their way into the semifinals of the Ozark Fall Festival Tournament this weekend, before losing to defending state champion Truman and ultimately finishing 4th out of 15 teams.

The Lady Tigers started the tournament with three straight wins. In their first game against Marionville, Rachel Rook struck out seven and allowed only two hits in a 2-0 victory. Lauren Strobel was 2-for-3 and scored both runs for Republic.

Abby Norris had three hits and drove in two runs in the Lady Tigers’ 13-2 win over Glendale. Strobel was 2-for-3 again, with four RBIs, and Morgan Cantrell drove in three runs with a 2-for-3 performance. Marlee Scroggins picked up the win, allowing two runs (neither of them earned) in four innings of work.

Against Nixa, the Lady Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning, on the way to a 10-4 win. Emily Hall was 3-for-3 and drove in a run for Republic. Caty Eby and Lauren Strobel added two hits apiece.

The Lady Tigers ran into a buzz saw in the tournament semifinals against Truman pitcher Paige Parker. Parker threw a no-hitter as Truman knocked off Republic 7-0. Parker struck out 11 and walked one in five innings of work.

In the 3rd place game, Lee’s Summit West got four hits from Mandy Roberts in a 5-2 win over Republic. Angel Serles and Danielle Shelton had two hits each for the Lady Tigers.
