Republic runner Megan Hergesheimer has qualified for regionals by winning the 3,000-meter run at the Missouri Valley Association Championships in Kansas City. Hergesheimer finished with a time of 11:17, 37 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.
Weather forced the cancellation of the 1,500-meter race, which means Hergesheimer automatically advances to regionals int hat event, too.
Incoming freshman Abby Loveland also advances in the 1,500-meter event because of the weather cancellation. She competed in the 400- and 800-meter races, as well, but failed to advance.
Regionals will be held in St. Louis July 11th through 14th.
