Lady Tigers Go 1-2 at West Plains

The Lady Tigers soccer team suffered two losses in three games at its weekend tournament in West Plains, despite showing flashes of its best soccer of the season. Republic finished 4th.

The tournament got off to a strong start for Republic, when the Lady Tigers beat St. Louis Notre Dame 2-1 on Friday. Republic fell behind 1-0 early in the second half, and looked to be in trouble when leading scorer Sara Marcotte went down with an injury. But the Lady Tigers rallied, and Sierra Casagrand scored two goals to give Republic a come-from-behind win. Marcotte eventually returned.

In game two on Saturday, Republic got a goal from Lesleigh Fenton, but fell to Hannibal 2-1.

In the 3rd place game, Republic played short-handed after the official issued a red card against Samantha Minor, sending her to the sidelines when Minor got tangled up with a player from Seckman. Fenton again scored the only Republic goal of the game in a 3-1 loss.
