Freshman Brooke Stanfield had a huge night to lead the Republic girls track and field team at the “Girls Night Out” track meet at Parkview Thursday.
Stanfield finished in the top five in four individual events. Her best result was in the 400-meter dash, where she finished first in a field of 42 runners with a time of 1:00.04, nearly a full second (.9) ahead of her closest competitor.
Stanfield took 3rd in the 200-meter dash (26.79) and 4th in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 13.29. She also finished fifth in the high jump.
Another freshman, Megan Hergesheimer, had a couple of top-five finishes. Hergesheimer was 5th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:32.58, and 3rd in the 3200-meter run, finishing in 11:50.12.
The Republic 4×200 meter relay team finished tenth. Those runners are Michaela Moore, Rachel Allen, Olivia Didway, and Molly Zinecker.
The 4×800 meter relay team of Allen, Kayla Bartelsmeyer, Abby Norris, and Hergesheimer was eighth.
Senior Sarah Kreul finished eighth in the discus throw, with a toss of 108’1.5″.
