The young Republic Lady Tigers track team put together a strong outing at Branson last week, finishing third in a seven-team field.
In the 100-yard dash, Republic had three of the top 10 finishes, led by Brooke Stanfield in second place with a time of 12.88 seconds. That was just .08 behind the winner, Hannah Smith of Hollister. Molly Zinecker and Michaela Moore, both sophomores, finished 9th and 10th overall.
Moore took fifth in the 200-yard dash, and another sophomore, Olivia Didway, finished ninth.
Stanfield won the 400-yard dash with a time of 1:00.02. Sophomore Abby Norris was fourth and sophomore Michayla Shanks was 10th.
In the 1600-meter run, freshman Megan Hergesheimer finished 2nd at 5:41.36. Senior Kayla Bartelsmeyer was fourth.
Hergesheimer also won the 3200-meter run, finishing in 12:20.59. Bartelsmeyer was third and Sara Wilken finished seventh.
Republic’s 4×100-meter relay team of Moore, Holly Burks, Didway and Zinecker finished second. So did the 4×800-meter relay of Rachel Allen, Bartelsmeyer, Norris, and Hergesheimer.
Stanfield was second in the high jump, with a jump of 5 feet. Shanks finished tied for 10th.
Senior Sarah Kreul took fourth in shot put, and sophomore Jamie Chapman was ninth.
Kreul was third in the discus, and Chapman was seventh.

The boys team finished seventh overall, but had a few bright spots.
Senior Garrett Metscher won the high jump, clearing six feet two inches. Metscher was also third in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
Sophomore Trystan Ellison took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.68 seconds.
Senior T.J. Ray was fifth in the 400-meters, and junior Paden Lucero finished tenth.
Junior Ryan Way took fourth in the 1600-meter run and 3rd in the 3200-meters.
Senior Gus Carter was sixth in the shot put. And in the discus, junior Brenton Skeeters was seventh and freshman Chris Bell was tenth.
