The Sikeston Bulldogs are no strangers to high-pressure basketball games. The Bulldogs have been to the state quarterfinals five years in a row. And this is their 2nd trip to the Show-Me Showdown in three seasons. Last time Sikeston made the trip to Columbia, they returned to southeast Missouri with a state championship.
The Bulldogs have the best won-loss record of the four remaining teams, at 26-2. They also have the most high-powered offense, averaging 74 points a game. They’re led by 6’3″ junior forward Jaterrance Jones, who averages 18.4 ppt, and 5’10” senior guard Vashawn Ruffin, who averages 16.2. Markeith Bratcher and Reese Porter also average double figures in scoring.
The Bulldogs rely on full-court pressure to force the tempo, and their semifinal matchup against Normandy should be a fast-paced affair between teams with similar styles.
