The Republic Tigers lost a double-digit lead in the second half, but found their composure in time to hold off Branson 58-55.
After Republic led most of the way, Branson fought back to take a 53-52 lead. But a bank shot by Canyon Smith put Republic back in front, and after another Branson score, Cody Geiger gave the Tigers the lead for good with a layup off the glass on the right block.
After a defensive stop, Jake Fletcher hit two free throws to make Republic’s lead three points. Branson had a final shot to tie, but Da’Quan Ervin’s three rimmed out and Republic held on.
The Tigers advance to the championship game against Parkview Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
