Twenty-three Republic wrestlers attended the Rolla JV Tournament Saturday, and more than one-third of them came home with first-place medals. Five of the gold-medal winners were freshmen.
The winners were freshmen Hunter Powell, Brendan Bice, Jerney Jones, Austin Noblitt, Macrae Murray, sophomores Kyle Powell and Zach Crowley, and Junior Ian Harms.
“Overall, I feel that we wrestled a great tournament,” says coach Jerry Morton, “and look forward to seeing them improve in future tournaments.”
The varsity wrestling squad returns to the mats Wednesday at Central.
