Republic ran its conference record to 4-0 with a win over Nixa at home Thursday. The Lady Tigers led most of the way through the first game, on their way to a 25-17 win. In game two, Nixa captured the early momentum and held the lead most of the way. But the Lady Tigers clawed their way back, coming from behind to secure the sweep, winning 25-22.

Coach Piper Wright says she wasn’t happy with the way game two started, but falling behind doesn’t seem to discourage her team.

“We didn’t really push very much at the beginning. But something that I love about these girls is that they don’t care what the score is. They’re going to keep fighting until they get ahead.”

On her 18th birthday, Alex Botkin had six kills and 12 digs, along with a service ace for the Lady Tigers.  Sarah Kreul had 16 assists. She and Brandy Glessner also had two blocks apiece.
