Soccer Tigers Pick Up First Win of the Year

The Tigers soccer team came from behind on the road to beat New Covenant Academy 2-1 Thursday.

New Covenant scored first, and led 1-0 at halftime. But Republic got on the board after a throw-in from Riley Close to Hugo Donjuan. Donjuan played the ball across to Nathan Pool, who put the ball in the back of the net to tie it.

The Tigers seized the momentum and used it to score again. Mitchell Heinzler took the ball from 20 yards out, dribbled through three defenders, and scored the game-winner.

Republic improves to 1-1. Their next game is at home against Nixa next Tuesday.
