Dishman to Take Over Lady Tigers Softball

The Republic School District has hired Lee Dishman as its new softball coach.

Dishman is currently an assistant baseball coach under Howard Quigley. He has also coached 8th grade football.

“He has a passion and love for the game,” says Athletic Director Greg Garton. “He’s very competitive. I’m very excited for him because I can tell how excited and how proud he is to have the position.”

Dishman says he knows he’s stepping into a program with a history of success. “Coaches Thorne and Huson did a great job of getting the girls motivated and staying positive with them,” Dishman says. “I hope to continue with what they’ve instilled in the program, with the winning, and expecting to move on.”

Dishman says he wanted the job because of Republic’s history of success, and because of the quality of players in the program.

“I like to be fundamentally sound with everything we do. Also to have a mental toughness that other teams know when they step on the field, Republic softball is there to beat them,” says Dishman. “I want the girls to have all the confidence in the world once they step on the field.”
